British folk singer Mary Hopkin is probably best known for being one of the first
artists to record on the Beatles’ Apple recording label. She got her big break
when model Twiggy saw her perform on a British talent show, who then told
Paul McCartney to check her out. McCartney produced her debut hit single in
1968,Those Were the Days.
