HE’S MADE THE HALL OF FAME LIST!

Singer Neil Diamond has been eligible for the Rock and Roll Hall
of Fame for several years now, but never got a nomination until
now. The 2011 class for the Cleveland hall made the induction 
announcement Tuesday. The ceremony will be in New York
City on March 14, 2011.

FIRST USE OF VIDEOTAPE ON THIS DATE IN 1956

The first commercial use of Videotape in Television was
with the Ampex VRX-1000 video recorder, shown above.
The broadcast was Douglas Edwards with The News on
CBS. It was a telecast from New York to the Television 
City studios of CBS in Hollywood.

THE MOST POPULAR MOVIE EVER MADE

 casablanca

The classic film “Casablanca” premiered on this date
in 1942 at the Hollywood Theater in New York City. It
starred Humphrey Bogart, Ingrid Bergman and Paul
Henried. The film also featured Claude Rains and
Peter Lorre. This all time favorite movie won
three Academy Awards, including Best Picture
in 1943.

‘’JOLTIN’ JOE’’ WAS BORN ON THIS DAY IN 1914

Major League Baseball Center Fielder, Joe
Dimaggio played all 13 years of his career for
the New York Yankees. He was voted into
the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1955. Joe  
was once married  to Marilyn Monroe. 
He died in 1999 at the age of 84.

OUTLAW BORN ON THIS DATE

“BILLY THE KID”, was born Henry McCarty on this date in
1859. Many states claim to be the birth place of the kid,
including New Mexico and New York City. Not much
is know about his origin. He was a 19th century
frontier outlaw who died in 1881 and was buried
in Fort Sumner’s Old Military Cemetery in New
Mexico. The tombstone has been stolen and
recovered three times since it was erected in
the 1940’s. As a result, the gravesite has since
been enclosed in a steel cage.

buried along with his “Pals”, fallen companions
Tom O’Folliard and Charlie Bowdre..
