James Montgomery "Jimmy" Doohan was an Irish-Canadian character and voice
actor best known for his role as Chief Engineer Montgomery “Scotty” Scott in
the TV and film series Star Trek. Following his success with Star Trek, he
supplemented his income and showed continued support for his fans by
making numerous public appearances. On July 20, 2005, Doohan died
at his home in Redmond, Washington. He was 85.

FORMER NBA STAR MICHAEL JORDAN IS 48 TODAY
Michael Jeffrey Jordan) is a former NBA basketball player, active businessman, and
majority owner of the Charlotte Bobcats. The National Basketball Association (NBA) website states, "By acclamation, Michael Jordan is the greatest basketball player all
time.” He was instrumental in popularizing the NBA around the world in the 1980s
and 1990s. Jordan was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in September 2009,
A BRANDO CO-STAR DEAD AT 58
Maria Schneider (Above), the French actress who was Marlon Brando’s young co-star in the steamy 1972 film "Last Tango in Paris," has died, her talent agency said. She was 58.
A representative of the Act 1 agency said Schneider died in Paris on Thursday "following a long illness," but declined to provide details.
Schneider was 19 when she starred opposite Marlon Brando in Bernardo Bertolucci’s racy "Last Tango in Paris." In it, she played a young Parisian woman who takes up with a middle-aged American businessman, played by Brando.
Throughout her career, Schneider appeared in more than two dozen films, most of them French. (AP)

Linda Denise Blair is best known for her role as the possessed child, Regan in the 1973 blockbuster The Exorcist. She was nominated for an Academy Award and two Golden Globes, winning one. She reprised her role in the 1977 sequel, Exorcist ll: The Heretic.
ACTRESS NICHELLE NICHOLS IS 78 TODAY
Nichelle Nichols was a singer with Duke Ellington and Lionel
Hampton before becoming an actress. She is best known
for her role as Communications Lt. Uhura of STAR TREK
which ran on NBC from 1966 to 1969. Nichelle was one of
the first black women to be featured in a major TV series.
