Barnaby Jones is a television detective series starring Buddy Ebsen and Lee
Meriwether (seen above) as father- and daughter-in-law who run a private
detective firm in Los Angeles. The show ran on CBS-TV until April 3, 1980,
when it was cancelled due to low ratings among young viewers.

Alan Alda ,an actor, director and screenwriter is a five-time Emmy Award and six-time Golden Globe Award winner. He is best known for his role as Hawkeye Pierce ( above)
in the TV series M*A*S*H on CBS from September 17, 1972 to February 28, 1983. He was nominated for 21 Emmy Awards, and won five. He took part in writing 19 episodes, including the finale, and directed 32. He is currently a Visiting Professor at the Stony Brook University School of Journalism.

The Tonight Show is a late-night talk show that has aired on NBC-TV since 1954. It is the longest currently running regularly scheduled entertainment program in the United States, and the third longest-running show on NBC, after Meet the Press and Today. The first host of the show was Steve Allen(above). Allen departed Tonight after NBC ordered him to concentrate all his efforts on his Sunday night variety program,The Steve Allen Show, hoping to combat CBS-TV and The Ed Sullivan Show’s dominance of the Sunday night ratings. JOHN BELUSHI WAS BORN ON THE DATE IN 1949
John Adam Belushi was a comedian, actor, and musician, best known as one of the original cast members of the NBC-TV comedy sketch show Saturday Night Live in the early 1970’s and for his roles in the films National Lampoon’s Animal House(1978)
and The Blues Brother(1980). He died of a drug overdose on March 5, 1982 at
the age of 33. John was the older brother of Jim Belushi.
