ERIN GRAY IS 61 YEARS OLD TODAY

Erin Gray is best known for her role as Col. Wilma Deering in the 
NBC-TV science fiction series Buck Rogers in the 25th Century. It
ran from 1979 until 1981 when it was cancelled.

DANNY THOMAS WAS BORN ON THIS DATE IN 1912

The career of comedian Danny Thomas began on radio in the 1940’s
playing the brother-in-law Amos on The Bickersons with stars Don
Ameche and Francis Langford. Danny is best know for the TV sitcom
The Danny Thomas Show (Make Room for Daddy). It ran from 1953 to 
1957 on ABC and on CBS from 1957 to 1964. Thomas is the founder
of ST. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. He died on February 6,
1991 of heart failure.

WILD KINGDOM DEBUTED ON THIS DAY IN 1963

WILD KINGDOM was hosted by Zoologist and zoo curator Marlin Perkins.
The half-hour nature program aired Sundays on NBC-TV until 1971, when
it went into syndication. Perkins was host for most of the show’s history
until he was forced to retire in 1985 for health reasons. Perkins died the 
following year at the age of 81. Jim Fowler, seen below, a long-time
assistant of Marlin’s became the host.
