NORTHWEST HIJACKING ON THIS DATE IN 1971

Hijacker D.B. Cooper parachuted from a Northwest Airlines
727 over Washington State with $200,000 in ransom. His
whereabouts remains a mystery. The bulk of the money
has never been recovered. The F.B.I. believes Cooper
did not survive the Jump.

After topping the chart with “Come Softly To Me” in April of  1959,  
the Fleetwoods of Olympia, Washington had their second hit on
this date.
