Berry Gordy JR. is the founder/producer of Motown
records and signed such artist as Marvin Gaye, The
Supremes, The Temptations, Steve Wonder and the
Jackson 5.
Riley’s radio family included his wife Peg, played by
Paula Winslowe and their two children, daughter Babs,
who was played by various actors, and a son named
Jr. played by Tommy Cook. The most memorable
character was Digby (Digger) O’Dell the “Friendly
Undertaker” portrayed by actor John Brown who
also was Gilles. The series made the transition to
Television in 1949 on NBC.
