ACTOR RUTGER HAUER IS 67 TODAY

Rutger Oelsen Hauer  is a Dutch stage, television and film actor. His career began in 1969 with the title role in the popular Dutch television series Floris(1969). Hauer made his American debut in the Sylvester Stallon film Nighthawks (1981), he was cast as a psychopathic and cold-blooded terrorist named "Wulfgar”. His film credits also include Flesh + Blood(1985), Blind Fury(1989), Blade Runner(1982),The Hitcher(1986),Sin City(2005), and Batman Begins(2005).

THE KING FAMILY SHOW DEBUTED ON THIS DATE IN 1965

The King Family Show was a  musical variety  which featured The King Sisters and their extended musical family. The series  aired on ABC-TV until January 1966. The series was revived for a second time airing from March to September 1969.
After an appearance on The Hollywood Palace in August 1964 drew a reported 53,000 letters, ABC decided to give the Kings their own hour-long weekly series replacing The Outer Limits. The show starred the four King Sisters, Donna, Yvonne, Luise and Alyce. It also featured Alyce’s husband, actor Robert Clarke, and her sons. In all, some thirty-seven members of the King family, ranging in age from seven months to 79 years, were seen on the show.

HERO PILOT IS 59 YEARS OLD TODAY

Chesley Burnett "Sully" Sullenberger III was an American airline pilot, safety expert, and accident investigator from Danville, California. Sullenberger rose to fame when he successfully ditched U S Airways Flight 1549 in the Hudson River off Manhattan, New York City, on January 15, 2009, saving the lives of all 155 people on the aircraft.

Sullenberger is an international speaker on airline safety and has helped develop new protocols for airline safety. As of September 30, 2009, Sullenberger is also the co-chairman of the EAA’s Young Eagles youth introduction-to-aviation program. Sullenberger retired from US Airways and its predecessor airline after 30 years with them on March 3, 2010.

He is the author of Highest Duty, a memoir of his life and of the events surrounding Flight 1549, published in 2009 by HarperCollins. He was ranked second in Time Magazine’s  Top 100 Most Influential Heroes and Icons of 2009.
