ONE OF THE BEST KNOWN DJ’s IN NORTH AMERICA ONCE WORKED IN PORTLAND

Broadcast icon and former KGW radio afternoon DJ Red Robinson (far right) is shown
with unidentified record promoters in the KGW studio. Red was with KGW from 1959   
to about 1961. He helped with the birth of Rock and Roll in Canada before coming
to Portland. Red Robinson is a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the 
Canadian Broadcast Hall of Fame. He retired from full-time radio in 2001, but still
does a Sunday rock show on Vancouver, Canada’s radio 1049funfm called Red
Rock Diner
from 8am to 2pm (Pacific time).

RACHEL WEISZ IS 41 TODAY

Rachel  Weisz is an English film and theatre actress and fashion model. Her acting
career began while attending the University of Cambridge college, where she co-
founded a theatrical group. The group was awarded the Student Drama Award.

Rachel made her film debut in the 1994 film Death Machine, but gained recognition  
for her roles in the 1996 movie Chain Reaction,and her portrayals in the films The Mummy, in 1999, and The Mummy Returns in 2001. Rachel was also in Enemy at
the Gates
in 2001, and The Constant Gardner in 2005, for which she received the Academy Award and Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actress as well as
the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in
a Supporting Role.

FIRST BROADWAY PRODUCTION ON TV ~ THIS DATE IN 1955

NBC-TV presented Peter Pan live as part of Producers’ Showcase,with
the show’s original cast, as the first full-length Broadway production on 
color TV. The show attracted a record audience of 65-million viewers 
viewers. Mary Martin ( above) and Cyril Ritchard (below) had already  
won Tony Awards for their stage performances, and Martin won an  
Emmy Award for the television production.
