"Alan Freed’s Easter Jubilee of Stars" opened for a ten-day run at the Brooklyn
Paramount Theater in New York! All the Rock and Roll stars of the day were
there, sometimes over 20 acts in a show and all for just a $2.50 ticket. Among
many featured artists were La Vern Baker, The Flamingos, The Platters, Buddy
Holly, The Everly Brothers, and Jerry Lee Lewis, just to name a few. Great closers
included Jackie Wilson, Bo Diddley, Chuck Berry, and Fats Domino. These class
acts were all backed up by the Alan Freed “Big Beat Orchestra” led by Sam “the
Man” Taylor.
