NATALIE WOOD ~ REMEMBERED
(July 20, 1938 – November 29, 1981)
Natalie Wood began acting in movies at the age of four and became a
successful child actor in such films as Miracle on 34th Street (1947). She
earned a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress
for her performance in Rebel Without a Cause (1955). This helped her to
make the transition from a child actor. Wood also received Academy Award
for Best Actress nominations for her roles in Splendor in the Grass (1961)
and Love With the Proper Stanger (1963). Natalie drowned near Santa
Catalina Island, California at age 43.

MUSIC CHART DEBUTED ON THIS DATE IN 1940
Billboard is a weekly magazine devoted to the music industry, and is one of the
oldest trade magazines in the world. On July 20, 1940 the first The Billboard
Music Popularity Chart was published. Billboard currently puts out over 100
charts each week, the most popular ones being Hot 100,Billboard 200, and
Hot 100 Airplay. Billboard was founded in Cincinnati, Ohio on November 1,
1894, by William H. Donaldson and James H. Hennegan. Originally titled
Billboard Advertising it was a trade paper for the bill posting industry,
hence the magazine’s name.
