“Walk Like A Man” reached the top of the Billboard Hot 100 on
March 2, 1963 and remained for three weeks. It was the groups
third number one hit.

The Jimmy Durante show aired Saturday evenings on NBC. The half hour show
ran for 51 episodes between October 2, 1954 and June 23, 1956.

James Farentino in “Dynasty”

(AP) – Actor James Farentino, who appeared in dozens of movies and
television shows, died Tuesday in a Los Angeles hospital, according to 
family spokesman Bob Palmer. He was 73.

Palmer said Farentino died of heart failure at Cedars-Sinai Hospital after
a long illness.

Farentino starred alongside Kirk Douglas and Martin Sheen in the 1980
science fiction film "The Final Countdown." The movie featured a modern
aircraft carrier that travels back in time to Pearl Harbor hours before the
Japanese attack.

Farentino also starred opposite Patty Dukein 1969’s "Me, Natalie." In
1967, he won a "Most Promising Newcomer" Golden Globe for his role
in the comedy "The Pad and How to Use It."

In 1978, he was nominated for an Emmy for his portrayal of Saint Peter in 
the television mini-series "Jesus of Nazareth”. He also had recurring roles
on "Dynasty," "Melrose Place," "The Bold Ones: The Lawyers” and “ER”
playing the estranged father to George Clooney’s character.

The first appearance of Oregon State University’s mascot “Benny the Beaver” as a costumed student was with the schools rally squad (above) in 1951.

The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (ATAS) in Los Angles established
the Emmy Awards for television production as part of public relations. The first
Emmy Awards were presented on Tuesday, January 25, 1949 at the Hollywood
Athletic Club, originally to honor shows produced and aired locally in the Los
Angeles area. The first recipient of an Emmy during that ceremony was Shirley 
Dinsdale for Most Outstanding Television Personality. The ventriloquist had a 
15-minute show on KTLA five days per week. After her TV career declined in 
the 1950s, she became a cardiopulmonary therapist. She died of cancer at
age 72 in 1999.
