Cannibal & The Headhunters originated from East Los Angeles, and were
known for being one of the first Mexican-American groups to have a national
hit record, “Land of a Thousand Dances” which climbed to #30. Wilson Pickett‘s
version of the same song would reach #6 the following year. They were also the
opening act on The Beatles‘ second American tour, backed up by the King Curtis
band.
