The 1894 Oregon Agricultural College squad were called the Hay Miners.

The first Civil War game was played on Saturday, November 3, 1894 in
Corvallis where the Oregon Agricultural College (OAC) beat the Ducks
16-0. It was the team’s second year of existence. They would eventually
become Oregon State University.

The first reference to the "Civil War" name was in 1929 and came into
common use in 1937. Prior to that, it was called the "Oregon Classic"
or the "State Championship Game.”
