Robert James "Bob" Keeshan (June 27, 1927 – January 23, 2004)

Keeshan was a television producer and actor, most notable as the title
character of the children’s CBS television program Captain Kangaroo,
which ran from 1955 to 1984. He also played the original “ Clarabell
the Clown” on the Howdy Doody program on NBC-TV from 1947-1952.

LEGENDARY SCREENWRITER IS DEAD AT 71

              Nora Ephron (May 19, 1941 – June 26, 2012)

(Fox News)-Author, director and screenwriter Nora Ephron died today
in a New York hospital from complications from the blood disorder
myelodysplasia, with which she was diagnosed six years ago.

Nora Ephron is best remembered for her romantic comedies and was
a triple nominee for the Academy Award for Writing Original Screenplay
for three films: Slikwood (1983), When Harry Met Sally (1989), and
Sleepless in Seattle (1993). Her most recent film was Julie & Julia in
2009.

     Pearl Sydenstricker Buck (June 26, 1892 – March 6, 1973)

Writer Pearl S Buck, known also by her Chinese name, Sai Zhenzju, was
born in Hillsboro, West Virginia. As an infant she went with her parents to
China where they continued their missionary work. She.spent most of her
time until 1934 in China.Through her Chinese tutors she became learned
in Chinese classical literature, culture and folk lore.

Her novel The Good Earth, depicting peasant live in China, was the best-
selling fiction book in the U.S. in 1931 and 1932, and won the Pulitzer
Prize in 1932 and later won the Dean Howells Medal for Distinguished
Fiction in 1936. In 1938, Buck was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature.

June Lockhart is primarily known as a 1950s and 1960 TV
actress, best remembered as the mother in two television
series, Lassie and Lost in Space. She also played Dr. Janet
Craig on the CBS-TV sitcom Petticoat Junction (1968-1970).
