“Space Seed” is a first-season episode (#24) of Star Trek: The Original Series,
that was first broadcast on Thursday, February 16, 1967. It introduced the popular
villain Khan Noonien Singh, played Ricardo Montalbán. The 1982 film Star Trek ll:
The Wrath of Khan serves as a sequel to this episode.

SINGLE RECORDED ON THIS DAY IN 1961

The record reached number one on the Billboard Pop chart for three weeks
and number one on the R&B chart. The Marcels’ version of "Blue Moon" sold
a million copies, and was awarded a gold disc.

The record was nailed on the first take within the last ten minutes of the groups
recording session.
