IT’S A HOLIDAY !

Columbus Day celebrates the first landing of explorer Christopher
Columbus on the shores of the New World which occurred on the
12th of October in 1492. President Franklin D. Roosevelt proclaimed
It a federal holiday in the United States in 1937. President Richard M.
Nixon later declared the day a national holiday to be observed on the
second Monday of each October.

Sigourney Weaver 

Sigourney Weaver was born Susan Alexandra Weaver in Manhattan, New
York City, the daughter of Elizabeth Inglis, an English actress, and NBC 
television executive and pioneer Sylvester "Pat" Weaver. Her uncle
Doodles (Winstead) Weaver (below), was a comedian and actor. She 
began using the name “Sigourney Weaver” in 1963 after a minor
character, Sigourney Howard in F. Scott Fitzgerald’s novel The
Great Gatsby.

FORMER MOTOWN SONGWRITER DEAD AT 71

Frank Edward Wilson (December 5, 1940 – September 27, 2012)

Frank Wilson, a Motown songwriter and producer who worked with 
The Supremes,The Temptations and Marvin Gaye, died Thursday,
Sept. 27 after a long battle with cancer. He wrote or co-wrote the
hits "Love Child," "All I Need" and "Chained." A rare copy of his
unreleased single "Do I Love You (Indeed I Do)" sold for a record
$39,294 in 2009, according to Guinness World Records. Wilson
left Motown in 1976 and became a born again Christian minister
in Los Angeles.
