Ed Ames (born Edmund Dantes Urick in Malden, Massachusetts)
Popular singer and actor Ed Ames is best known for his pop and adult
contemporary hits of the 1960s. He was part of a popular 1950s singing
group called the Ames Brothers.
SWING ERA SINGERS BIRTHDAY TODAY
William Clarence ‘Billy’ Eckstine (July 8, 1914 – March 8, 1993)
Billy Eckstine was a singer and bandleader of the swing era. His 1948
recording of "I Apologize" was awarded the Grammy Hall of Fame Award
in 1999.
A DISNEY LEGEND HAS DIED AT 87
Richard Percy Jones (February 25, 1927 – July 7, 2014)
Jones achieved some success as a child actor and as a young adult,
especially in B-Westerns and television. He is probably best known as
the voice of Pinocchio in the 1940 Walt Disney film Pinocchio. He died
at his home on July 7 from natural causes.
