Bobbie Gentry (Roberta Lee Streeter) was
born in Chickasaw County, Mississippi.
Gentry’s big hit , "Ode to Billie Joe" in 1967, charted at #1 for multiple weeks
on the Billboard Hot 100. She paid for her education at UCLA by working
clerical jobs. Her first single was "Mississippi Delta," which she released
in 1967.Bobby Gentry is known to be one of the first female country
artists to compose and produce her own material.

Apollo 15 was the ninth manned mission in the US Apollo program, the fourth to
land on the Moon, and the eighth successful manned mission. It was the first of
what were termed "J missions," long stays on the Moon, with a greater focus on
science than had been possible on previous missions. It was also the first mission
on which the Lunar Roving Vehicle was used.
The mission ended on August 7. At the time, NASA called it the most successful
manned flight ever achieved.
Commander David Scott and Lunar Module Pilot James Irwin spent three days on
the Moon, including 18½ hours outside the spacecraft on lunar extra-vehicular
activity (EVA).

"Cow Cow Boogie” is a "country-boogie" style blues song written for the 1942
Abbott & Costello film Ride ‘Em Cowboy. The first recording was by Freddie
Slack & his Orchestra, featuring 17-year-old vocalist Ella Mae Morse. The
record was the first release by Capitol Records and their first million-seller.
Although Ella Mae’s follow-up recordings sold fairly well, she never obtained
a huge following, but continued to make records until 1957. Morse died of
respiratory failure in Bullhead City, Arizona in 1999 at age 75.
