In 1999 “Killing Me Softly With His Song” was inducted into the Grammy Hall of
Fame. It also ranked #360 on Rolling Stone‘s list of The 500 Greatest Songs
of All Time and #82 on Billboard’s Greatest Songs of all time.

NUMBER-ONE SINGLE ON THIS DAY IN 1973
GAME SHOW DEBUTED ON THIS DAY IN 1964
The original daytime version of Jeopardy! debuted on NBC television in March of
1964 and aired until January 3, 1975. The general knowledge game show was
created by Merv Griffin with Art Fleming (above) as the original host.
Various versions of the show have since followed with Alex Trebek
(above) as the present host.
TV SPECIAL AIRED ON THIS DAY IN 1966
Barbra Streisand’s Second TV Special, "Color Me Barbra” Coincided with
the release of her new album by the same name. It was filmed largely at
the Philadelphia Museum of Art over one weekend during off-hours. A big
difference from the first special was that this one was in color.

COVER PHOTO SHOOT ON THIS DAY IN 1967
Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band is the eighth studio album by The
Beatles and was released on June 1, 1967.
The cover of the album was designed by the pop artists Peter Blake and Jann
Haworth from an ink drawing by McCartney. It was art-directed by Robert Fraser
and photographed by Michael Cooper. Haworth and Blake won the Grammy
Award for Best Album Cover, Graphic Arts in 1967 for their work on the cover
which is called by many as the most famous rock album cover of all time.
