"Catch a Falling Star", written by Paul Vance and Lee Pockriss,was released
by Perry Como in 1957. It was his last #1 on the Billboard “Most Played by
disc Jockeys" chart but not in the overall top 100, where it reached #2. It
was the first single to receive a gold record certification, on March 14,
1958. The record won Como the 1959 Grammy Award for Best Vocal
Performance, Male.

COMIC STRIP DEBUTED ON THIS DAY IN 1951
Dennis the Menace is a daily syndicated newspaper comic strip that was originally
created, written, and illustrated by Hank Ketcham. It debuted on March 12, 1951,
in 16 newspapers, originally distributed by Post-Hall Syndicate. It is now written
and drawn by Ketcham’s former assistants, Marcus Hamilton and Ron Ferdinand,
and distributed to at least 1,000 newspapers in 48 countries and in 19 languages
by King Features Syndicate. The strip usually runs for a single panel on weekdays
and a full strip on Sundays.

NEIL SEDAKA IS 76 YEARS OLD TODAY
Neil Sedaka was born in Brooklyn, New York
Since his music career began in 1957, Sedaka has sold millions of
records as an artist and has written or co-written over 500 songs for
himself and others. He has had nine number-one hits.
Tune Trivia: Howard Greenfield got the inspiration for the song title from an old movie listing in TV Guide. The 1961 recording of the song required 26 takes over a three-
hour period. The single reached #4 on the Billboard chart.
