Mannix is a detective television series that ran from 1967 to 1975
on CBS. It was created by Richard Levinson and William Link, and
developed by executive producer Bruce Geller. The title character,
Joe Mannix, is a private investigator played by actor Mike Connors.

(August 15, 1925 – January 26, 2017) 

Connors died in Tarzana, California, at the
age of 91 on January 26, 2017, a week after
being diagnosed with leukemia.

of dollars were lost, wiping out thousands of investors, and stock
tickers ran hours behind because the machinery could not
handle the huge volume of trading. In the aftermath of Black
Tuesday, America and the rest of the industrialized world spiraled downward into the Great Depression.

Jerry Lee Lewis (September 29, 1935 – October 28, 2022)

Jerry Lee Lewis, the flamboyant rock ‘n’ roll founding father,
swaggering country shouter and 2005 Grammy Lifetime
Achievement Award honoree, died Friday.

Lewis died of natural causes at his home in DeSoto County,
Mississippi, south of Memphis.

On October 26, 2022, news outlets falsely reported that Lewis
died.

The Statue of Liberty, a gift of friendship from the people of
France to the people of the United States,was dedicated in
New York Harbor by President Grover Cleveland (above).

Originally known as “Liberty Enlightening the World,” the
statue was proposed by the French historian Edouard de
Laboulaye to commemorate the Franco-American alliance
during the American Revolution.

Designed by French sculptor Frederic-Auguste Bartholdi,
the 151-foot statue was designed by Eugene-Emmanuel
Viollet-le-Duc and Alexandre-Gustave Eiffel, the latter
famous for his design of the Eiffel Tower in Paris.

In May 1884, the statue was completed in France, and three
months later the cornerstone for its pedestal was laid in New
York Harbor. In June 1885, the dismantled Statue of Liberty
arrived in the New World, enclosed in more than 200 packing
cases.
