Charles Nowlin Thomas (April 7, 1937 – January 31, 2023)
(FOXNEWS) – Musician Charlie Thomas has died at the age
of 85 after battling liver cancer.
Thomas was a singer best known for his work with The
Drifters. He was performing with The Five Crowns at the
Apollo Theater in 1958 when George Treadwell fired his
group, called The Drifters. Treadwell recruited the Five
Crowns to become the new Drifters.
The new Drifters’ first release was the 1959 hit "There Goes
My Baby".
Lemongello Jr., also a musician, noted the funeral will be
held Feb. 16 at First Baptist Church of Glenarden in
Landover, Maryland.
