Apollo 7, the first manned Apollo mission,was launched with
astronauts Walter M. Schirra, Jr.; Donn F. Eisele; and Walter
Cunningham aboard.

Under the command of Schirra, the crew of Apollo 7 conducted
an 11-day orbit of Earth, during which the crew transmitted the
first live television broadcasts from orbit.

The Daughters of the American Revolution, comprised of
women in the United States and around the world who
descend from patriots of the nation’s fight for it’s
independence, was founded in Washington, D.C. on
this day in history, Oct. 11, 1890.

The    groups website says,The DAR "is a nonprofit, non-
political volunteer women’s service organization dedicated
to promoting patriotism, preserving American history, and
securing America’s future through better education for
children."

The patriotic all-female organization devoted to ‘God, Home
and Country’ has 190,000 members worldwide.
