The Carter Center announced in a statement made today,
Jimmy Carter passed away peacefully Dec. 29 at his home
in Plains, Georgia, surrounded by family.
Carter, the oldest living U.S. president of all time, died less
than three months after his 100th birthday and more than
a year after the Carter Center said he had opted to receive
hospice care at home with his family after "a series of short
hospital stays."
His specific cause of death was unclear. Carter’s death
followed the passing of his wife Rosalynn on Nov. 19,
2023. She died at the age of 96.
