Richmond Road Baptist Church
Two women were killed and 2 men were wounded at
Richmond Road Baptist Church in Lexington, Kentucky
on Sunday.

(FOX NEWS) – Governor Beshear asks for prayers following
violent incident at Richmond Road Baptist Church. A Kentucky
state trooper was also among the injured. He was in stable
condition and receiving medical treatment at the time of
the report.

Police believe the suspect, who was shot by responding law
enforcement and was pronounced deceased at the scene,
may have had a connection to the Church.

Massachusetts was
nominated for the presidency by the
Democratic Party Convention, defeating Senator
Lyndon
B.
Johnson
of Texas. The next day, Johnson was named
Kennedy’s running mate by a unanimous vote of the
convention.

Four months later, on November 8, JFK won 49.7 percent
of the popular vote in one of the closest presidential
elections in U.S. history, surpassing by a fraction the
49.6 percent received by Vice President
Richard M.
Nixon
, a Republican.

On July 13, 1990, the romantic-thriller Ghost, starring Demi
Moore, Patrick Swayze and Whoopi Goldberg, opened in
theaters across the country.

The film, about a woman who communicates with her murdered
husband through a psychic, was a box-office hit and received
multiple Academy Award nominations, including Best Picture
and Best Screenplay.

Goldberg, who played psychic Oda Mae Brown, won an Oscar
for Best Supporting Actress. The movie was Written by Bruce
Joel Rubin and directed by Jerry Zucker.

With Ghost, Whoopi Goldberg became only the second African-
American actress to win an Academy Award. (In 1939, Hattie
McDaniel was named Best Supporting Actress for her portrayal
of an enslaved governess in Gone With the Wind.)

The films success extended to the home video market, and it
was the most rented film of 1991 in the United States.
