Signing of the United States Constitution

On July 28, 1868: Following its ratification by the necessary three-
quarters of U.S. states, the
14th Amendment, granting citizenship
to all persons born or naturalized in the United States—including formerly enslaved people—was officially adopted into the U.S.
Constitution. Secretary of State William Seward (below) issued a
proclamation certifying the amendment.

Jim Davis is the cartoonist who created the lazy, sarcastic cat
"Garfield," one of the most widely distributed comics in history.

Garfield began syndication in 41 newspapers on June 19, 1978
and by 2008, it appeared in 2,580 newspapers and was read by
300 million readers every day.

Dr. Frederick Banting, a Canadian surgeon and Charles
Best, a medical student.
 

Insulin was discovered in 1921 by Frederick Banting and Charles
Best at the University of Toronto. They worked to isolate an
extract from a dog’s pancreas that could lower blood sugar
in other diabetic dogs.

Their discovery, initially a "thick brown muck," proved to be a groundbreaking treatment for diabetes.
