In Montgomery,
Alabama on December 1, 1955, Rosa Parks was
jailed for refusing to give up her seat on a public bus to a white
man, a violation of the city’s racial segregation laws.

The successful Montgomery Bus Boycott, organized by a young
Baptist minister named
Martin Luther King, Jr., followed Park’s
historic act of civil disobedience.

Colin Luther Powell (April 5, 1937 – October 18, 2021)

(Fox News) – Gen. Colin Powell, former secretary of state, died
Monday at 84 years of age from COVID-related complications,
even though he was fully
vaccinated, his family announced.

His death, medical experts say, underscores the need for COVID
-19 vaccine
booster shots among older adults and high-risk
populations to shore up protection.

Powell was afflicted with other diseases, including Parkinson’s
and the blood cancer
multiple myeloma, which could hamper
recovery from COVID-19 infection, according to reports. His
family didn’t specify when Powell received vaccine, or whether
he had taken a booster shot.

Goodman’s bands started the careers
of many jazz musicians. During an era
of racial segregation, he led one of the
first integrated jazz groups. Benny
Goodman (known as “The King of
Swing”), performed nearly to the end
of his life while exploring an interest
in
classical music.
