ALBUM RELEASED ON THIS DAY IN 1958


Charles Hardin Holley (September 7, 1936 – February 3, 1959)

Buddy Holly is singer Buddy Holly‘s debut solo album and his second
album overall (following The "Chirping" Crickets in 1957). Although
billed as a solo record, the personnel once again features Holly’s
band, the Crickets, accompanying him.  It contains one of Buddy’s
best known songs, "Peggy Sue".

ALBUM RELEASED ON THIS DAY IN 1974

 

George Harrison released his first album on his Dark Horse label, entitled
"Dark Horse." The album reached number 4 on the Billboard chart and the
single "Dark Horse" reached number 15, but they failed to make an impact
in the UK. The music critic Mikal Gilmore described “Dark Horse” as "one of
Harrison’s most fascinating works, a record about change and loss."

ALBUM RELEASED ON THIS DAY IN 1963


Little Deuce Coupe
is the fourth studio album by The Beach Boys, and third
overall LP release within 1963.The album was a success, reaching number
four during a 46-week chart stay, and eventually certified platinum by the
RIAA.

ALBUM RELEASED ON THIS DAY IN 1966

Pet Sounds is the eleventh studio album by the Beach Boys.it initially met a
lukewarm critical and commercial reception, but In later years, garnered
enormous worldwide acclaim by critics and musicians alike, and is regarded
as one of the most influential pieces in the history of popular music.

The album was produced by Brian Wilson, who also wrote and composed
almost all of its music. Sessions were conducted several months after he
had quit touring with the Beach Boys in order to focus his attention on
writing and recording.
