TALK SHOW ANNOUNCER HAS DIED AT 78

STAMFORD, Conn. (AP) — Alan Kalter, the quirky, red-headed
announcer for
David Letterman for two decades who frequently
appeared in the show’s comedy bits, has died.

Kalter passed Monday at Stamford Hospital in Connecticut with
his wife, Peggy, and their two daughters at his side. The cause
of death was not announced.

Hugh Downs, genial presence on TV news and game shows, dies ...
Hugh Malcolm Downs (February 14, 1921 – July 1, 2020) 

Broadcaster, television host, news anchor, TV producer, author, game
show host, and music composer. A regular television presence from
the 1940s through the 1990s, he had several successful roles on
morning television, prime time television, and late night television.

Downs served as announcer/sidekick for Tonight Starring Jack Paar
from 1957 to 1962, co-host of the
NBC News program Today from
1962 to 1971, host of the Concentration game show from 1958 to
1969, and anchor of the
ABC News magazine 20/20 from 1978 to
1999. Downs died at his home in Scottsdale, Arizona.

LOCAL RADIO LEGEND HAS DIED AT 56

PORTLAND, Ore. — Portland radio has lost a legendary voice. Steve
Pringle died Sunday after battling stage 4 cancer since June of this
year. For 26  years, Steve played jazz, and blues music on radio
stations KINK, KMHD and KGON.

RADIO AND TV VOICE HAS DIED AT 92

Lorenzo “Larry” Caramella
(August 10, 1925 – January 16, 2018)

Returning from the war in 1946, Larry began his decades
long career in broadcasting as a DJ, booth announcer,
talk show host, newscaster and broadcast engineer. He
was with KPOJ, KXL, KGW, KPTV, and KATU along with
other stations.

NOTE: A committal service will be held Friday, May 11 at 1
P.M. at Willamette National Cemetary, 11800 SE Mt. Scott
Blvd in Portland, Oregon. A reception is scheduled for 1:45
P.M. at Lincoln Memorial Park Cemetery, 11801 SE Mt Scott
Blvd. Portland.

REMEMBERING TONY MARVIN


Tony Marvin (October 5, 1912 – October 10, 1998)

Tony Marvin was a radio and television announcer. He
became a staff announcer for CBS, and later became
most known as the long-time announcer for Arthur
Godfrey
. In 1961 he moved to the Mutual Broadcasting
System
where he produced commercials and did live

newscasts.
