A 1948 Tucker Torpedo was the top seller Saturday at the Barrett-Jackson auction
held in Scottsdale, Arizona. Total sales for the auction exceeded $76 million.

CAR COMPANY MERGED ON THIS DAY IN 1954

The Hudson Motor Car Company of Detroit, Michigan merged with Nash-
Kelvinator corporation on January 14, 1954 becoming American Motors
Corporation. The Hudson factory in Detroit was converted to military
contract production at the end of the model year. The remaining three 
years of Hudson production took place in Kenosha, Wisconsin.
