ICONIC STAR BORN ON THIS DAY IN 1929
Audrey Hepburn (born Audrey Kathleen Ruston in Belgium)
(May 4, 1929 – January 20, 1993)
Hepburn was active during Hollywood’s Golden Age. She starred in
“Breakfast at Tiffany’s” (1961) and received a Golden Globe Award for
her performance in “Roman Holiday” (1953). She was ranked by the
American Film Institute as the third greatest female screen legend in the
history of American cinema and has been placed in the national Best
Dressed List Hall of Fame. In 1993, she received a Screen Actors Guild
Life Achievement Award.
ACTRESS ANN-MARGRET IS 74 TODAY
Ann-Margret (born Ann-Margret Olsson in Sweden)
Ann-Margret appeared with Elvis in Viva Las Vegas (1964) and gained
fame for her role in Bye Bye Birdie (1963). She also appeared in The
Cincinnati Kid (1965) and Tommy (1975). She was nominated for two
Academy Awards and won five Golden Globes.
CAROL BURNETT IS 82 YEARS YOUNG TODAY
Carol Creighton Burnett was born in San Antonio, Texas.
Burnett hosted “The Carol Burnett Show” on CBS from 1967 to 1978
after winning Tony, Emmy, and Golden Globe Awards for her work in
various genres. Before stardom she worked as an usherette and hat-
check girl while living in a boarding house for women pursuing acting
careers.
In 2013, TV Guide ranked The Carol Burnett Show #17 on their list
of the 60 Greatest Shows of All Time.
AL PACINO IS 75 YEARS OLD TODAY
Alfredo James "Al" Pacino was born in Manhattan, New York
Pacino had his breakthrough as mobster Michael Corleone in the
“Godfather” trilogy and won an Academy Award for Best Actor for his
role as Frank Slade in the 1992 film “Scent of a Woman”. He is also
known for his starring roles in “Dog Day Afternoon” (1975),“Scarface”
(1983), “Serpico” (1973), and “Glengarry Glen Ross” (1992).
He developed a love for acting at an early age and participated in the
majority of his school’s productions. As a teenager, he went by the
nickname Sunny and had a reputation as a troublemaker.
