COVER PHOTO SHOOT ON THIS DAY IN 1967

Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band is the eighth studio album by The
Beatles and was released on June 1, 1967.

The cover of the album was designed by the pop artists Peter Blake and Jann
Haworth
from an ink drawing by McCartney. It was art-directed by Robert Fraser
and photographed by Michael Cooper. Haworth and Blake won the Grammy
Award for Best Album Cover, Graphic Arts in 1967 for their work on the cover
which is called by many as the most famous rock album cover of all time.

Pearl Mae Bailey (March 29, 1918 – August 17, 1990) 

After appearing in vaudeville, Bailey made her Broadway debut
in St. Louis Woman in 1946. She won a Tony Award for the title
role in the all-black production of Hello, Dolly! in 1968.

James Arthur "Jim" Lovell, Jr.

The former NASA astronaut and retired captain in the U.S. Navy is 
most famous as the commander of the Apollo 13 mission, which
suffered a critical failure en route to the Moon in 1970. The crew
was brought back safely to Earth by the combined efforts of all
those involved.

Lovell is a recipient of the Congressional Space Medal of Honor
and the Presidential Medal of Freedom.

Terence Steven “Steve” McQueen
(March 24, 1930 – November 7, 1980)

McQueen received an Academy Award nomination for his role
in The Sand Pebbles (1966). His other popular films include
Bullitt (1968), and The Great Escape (1963). In 1974, he
became the highest-paid movie star in the world. Steve
McQueen competed in weekend motorcycle races to help
support himself while studying for his acting career.
