singer in American history for releasing award-winning hits like "Billie
Jean" and "Beat It." His 1982 album “Thriller” became the best-selling
album in history, winning thirteen Grammy Awards. He had thirteen #1 
songs on the Billboard charts.

MAJOR GOLF TITLE WON ON THIS DAY IN 1946

The 1946 PGA Championship was the 28th PGA Championship, held August 19-25 
at Portland Golf Club outside Portland, Oregon. Ben Hogan won the match play 
championship, 6 & 4 over Ed Oliver in the final; the winner’s share was $3,500 
and the runner-up’s was $1,500. For Hogan, age 34, it was the first of his nine 
major titles. He won again in 1948.

Acclaimed actor and Oscar-winning director Richard Attenborough, whose film
career on both sides of the camera spanned 60 years, has died.

The actor’s son, Michael Attenborough told the BBC that his father died Sunday,
after having been in poor health for some time.

In March 2013, in light of his deteriorating health, Attenborough moved into a
nursing home in London.

David Van Cortlandt Crosby was born in Los Angeles, California

David Crosby is a Guitarist, singer, and songwriter with the rock band Crosby, 
Stills, Nash, and Young. He is a two-time Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee,
once for his work in The Byrds and once for his work with CSN.

Before fame he went to Santa Barbara City College to study acting; however,
he ended up leaving to dedicate his time to making music.
