This single was the second of the Temptations’ four number-one hits on the pop
charts, and was also one of the best-selling singles the group released. Billboard

SINGER TANYA TUCKER IS 57 TODAY


Tanya Denise Tucker was born in Seminole, Texas.

Tucker had her first #1 hit, "Delta Dawn," at the age of thirteen. She has been
nominated for multiple Country Music Association awards. She founded her
own record label, Tuckertime Records, in 2002. Her contribution to the country
music genre was rewarded when the Country Music Association voted her the
"Female Vocalist of the Year" in 1991.

CHUBBY CHECKER IS 74 TODAY


Chubby Checker (born Ernest Evans in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania)

Chubby is widely known for popularizing the twist dance style, with his 1960 hit
cover of Hank Ballard‘s R&B hit "The Twist". In September 2008 "The Twist"
topped Billboard’s list of the most popular singles to have appeared in the
Hot 100 since its debut in 1958. He is the only recording artist to place five
albums in the Top 12 all at once.

JOHNNY MATHIS IS 80 TODAY


John Royce "Johnny" Mathis was born in Texas.

Johnny Mathis has sold more than 350 million records and known for
his #1 hit "Chances Are." He won a Lifetime Achievement Award at the
2003 Grammy Awards. Mathis earned four athletic letters during high
school. His goal originally was to become a teacher, enrolling in San
Francisco State University.

"To Know Him Is to Love Him" was written by Phil Spector and
inspired by words on his father’s tombstone. It went to number 
one on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart.

Phillip Harvey Spector will be 76 years old December 26. In
the 2000s, he became the subject of two trials for murder
and a second-degree conviction. He is currently serving
a prison sentence of 19 years to life.
