English musician Elvis Costello (Declan Patrick MacManus)
is 71 years old today.
According to Rolling Stone, Costello "reinvigorated the
literate, lyrical traditions of Bob Dylan and Van Morrison.
Kelly was a dancer, actor, singer, director and choreographer
known for his performances in An American in Paris (1951),
which won the Academy Award for Best Picture, Singin’ in
the Rain (1952).
The modern United States received its crowning star when
President Dwight D. Eisenhower signed a proclamation
admitting Hawaii into the Union as the 50th state.
The president also issued an order for an American flag
featuring 50 stars arranged in staggered rows: five six-star
rows and four five-star rows. The new flag became official
July 4, 1960.
William Jefferson Clinton, born and raised in Arkansas, was the
42nd president of the United States from 1993 to 2001. He is a
member of the Democratic Party.
