Presidents Day also known as Washington’s Birthday is a day
dedicated to celebrating all U.S. presidents, past and present.

The holiday was originally established in 1885 to celebrate
President George Washington’s birthday after his death. The
day became known as Presidents Day when it became part of
the 1971 Uniform Monday Holiday Act, which was an attempt
to create more three-day weekends for federal employees.

It's Groundhog Day! | WOODTV.com

Groundhog Day is derived from the
Pennsylvania Dutch superstition
that if a
groundhog emerging from its burrow on this day sees its shadow due to clear weather, it will retreat to its den and winter will persist for six more weeks; but if it does not see its shadow
because of cloudiness, spring will arrive early.

National Freedom Day is a United States observance on February 1 honoring the signing by Abraham Lincoln of a joint House and
Senate resolution that later became the 13th Amendment to the
U.S. Constitution. President Lincoln signed the Amendment
outlawing slavery on February 1, 1865, although it was not
ratified by the states until later.
