MIKEY LIKED LIFE IN THE 1970’s
A 5 year-old “Mikey” was portrayed by John Gilchrist along
with his two real-life brothers, Tom and Mike in 1971.
The Quaker Oats Company, known as Quaker, is an American
food conglomerate based in Chicago, Illinois. As Quaker Mill
Company, the company was founded in 1877 in Ravenna, Ohio.
In 1881, Henry Crowell bought the company and launched a
national advertising campaign for Quaker Oats.
In 1983, Quaker acquired Stokely-Van Camp, Inc., the maker
of Van Camp’s and Gatorade. In 2001, PepsiCo bought Quaker
Oats for $14 billion, primarily to acquire the Gatorade brand.

ANOTHER GREAT TV WESTERN
The Adventures of Wild Bill Hickok is a Western television series
that ran for eight seasons from April 15, 1951, through September
24, 1958. The Screen Gems series began in syndication, but ran
on CBS from 1955 through 1958, and, at the same time, on ABC
from 1957 through 1958. The Kellogg’s cereal company was the
show’s national sponsor.
The Adventures of Wild Bill Hickok starred Guy Madison
(right) as the legendary Old West lawman (in real life,
also a gunfighter) U.S. Marshal James Butler "Wild
Bill" Hickok, and Andy Devine (left) as his comedy
sidekick, Jingles P. Jones. Devine opened each episode
by shouting “Wiiiiiild Biiiiilll Hickok.” He also delivered
the opening commercial for Kellogg’s Sugar Corn Pops.
Guy Madison (Robert Ozell Moseley)
(January 19, 1922 – February 6, 1996)
Following his retirement, Madison built a large ranch home
in Morongo Valley, California. He died of emphysema at the
Desert Hospital Hospice in Palm Springs at the age of 74.
A HEALTHY CEREAL FROM KELLOGG IN 1939
Pep was a brand of whole-wheat breakfast cereal produced by
the Kellogg Company, and introduced in 1923, which became
the first to be fortified with vitamins B and D in 1938. Pep was
a long-running rival to Wheaties, and also the sponsor of Mutual
Radio‘s The Adventures of Superman radio series. One of Pep’s advertising slogans was "the Sunshine cereal".
