 Arthur Godfrey Time was a Monday-Friday show that featured unscripted
monologues by Godfrey, interviews with various stars, music from his own
in-house combo and regular vocalists. The program remained a late morning
staple on the CBS Radio Network schedule until 1972.

A NATIONAL TV DEBUT ON THIS DAY IN 1950

Bob Hope’s first national television appearance was a 90 minute special,
broadcast Easter Sunday, 1950. It featured comedy, dance, and singing. The
show, called ”Star Spangled Review”, featured Douglas Fairbanks, Diana Shore,
and the Mexico City Boys Choir singing the Hallelujah Chorus. Bob delivered his
own rendition of, “Baby It’s Cold Outside”. The show was eventually renamed the
Bob Hope Special, continuing periodically on NBC until 1997.
