Cher (born Cherilyn Sarkisian) is a #1 hit recording artist, Emmy-award
winning television personality, award-winning actress, director, record
producer and philanthropist. she has won an Academy Award, a Gammy
Award, an Emmy Award , three Golden Globes, and a Cannes Film Festival
Award among others for her work in film, music and television. She is the
only person in history to have received all of these awards. Cher began
her career as a backup singer and later came to prominence as one half
of the pop rock duo Sonny & Cher with the success of their song "I Got
You Babe” in 1965. Her hit dance single "Believe" is her biggest-selling
recording and was the best-selling single of 1999,having sold over 10
million copies worldwide.

When Norman Rockwell (above) was 21 years old, living in New Rochelle, New York,
when he submitted his first cover painting to “The Saturday Evening Post”. The
title of the painting was Mother’s Day Off (below).

NOKIE EDWARDS TURNED 72 TODAY

Nokie Edwards (born Nole Floyd Edwards), began playing a variety of string
instruments by the age of five including the steel guitar, banjo, mandolin, violin,
and the bass. His moved from Oklahoma to Puyallup, Washington. During his
late teen’s he began playing in numerous country bands in the area. In 1958
country singing artist Buck Owens relocated from California to Tacoma,
Washington as owner of radio station KAYE. Prior to the formation of The
Buckaroos with Don Rich, Nokie Edwards played guitar with Owens and the
new band he formed in the area and also in the house band on KTNT-TV in
the same building. This is where Edwards met Don Wilson and Bob Bogle,
founders of The Ventures. In 2008, Edwards was inducted into The Rock and
Roll Hall of Fame along with The Ventures.
