Starting in 1987, stand-up comedian Jay Leno became a regular substitute 
host for Johnny Carson on The Tonight Show and replaced Johnny as host
when he left the show in 1992. Leno owns about 100 cars and has a regular
column in Popular Mechanics and writes occasional articles for The Sunday
Times, reviewing high-end sports cars and giving humorous takes on matters
concerning automobiles.

JACK KLUGMAN ~ 89 YEARS OLD TODAY

 
Jack Klugman main

Jack Klugman, stage, film,and TV actor is known for his role as Oscar
Madison in the ABC-TV series The Odd Couple (1970-1975). He also
played the starring role in Quincy, M.E. on NBC (1976-1983).  One of his
early film appearances was in 12 Angry Men in 1957. He is the last surviving
actor who played a juror (#5) in that movie. Klugman also appeared in four
episodes of the acclaimed television series The Twilight Zone. Jack won two
Emmy Awards for The Odd Couple.

FUNNY GIRL CAROL BURNETT IS 78 TODAY

Carol  Burnett, actress, comedienne, singer, dancer and writer, started her career
in New York. After becoming a hit on Broadway, she made her television debut on
The Garry Moore Show on CBS (1950s – 1960s). Carol then moved to Los Angeles
and began The Carol Burnett Show which was aired on CBS-TV from 1967 to 1978.

Lum and Abner was a radio comedy show which aired on the NBC network from
1931 to 1954. The show was created by it’s stars, Chester Lauck and Norris Goff
(shown above). It was modeled on life in the small town of Waters, Arkansas
near where the pair grew up. In 1936 the town of Waters changed its
name to Pine Ridge, after the fictional town in the radio show.
