SHAZAM! JIM NABORS IS 79 TODAY

James Thurston "Jim" Nabors was born in Sylacauga, Ala. Because he
suffered from asthma, he moved to California, where he was scouted at
a Santa Monica nightclub and cast as hapless Gomer Pyle on The Andy
Griffith Show
(CBS, 1960-1968). The character proved popular, and Jim
was given his own spin-off show on CBS, Gomer Pyle, U.S.M.C. The sires
aired from 1964 to 1969.

Dean Martin was a popular singer,film actor, television star and comedian, best
known for being half of the comedy team, Martin and Lewis (above). Martin’s hit
singles included “Memories Are Made of This” (1956), and “Everybody Loves Somebody” (1964). Nicknamed the “King of Cool”, Martin was one of the 
members of the “Rat Pack” (below).

 Ken Osmond best known for his role as Eddie Haskell on the original Leave
it to Beaver
TV sitcom which ran on CBS from October 4, 1957, to 1958 and
then on ABC from 1958 to June 20, 1963. After his child acting career, Ken
served 18 years as an officer with the Los Angeles Police Department joining
in 1970 (below). During his time on the force, he worked in vice, in narcotics
and as a motorcycle officer. He was placed on disability and eventually retired
after being wounded while in a foot pursuit with a suspected car thief.
