According to military officials this week, the remains of a World
War II airman were identified 80 years after his plane was shot
down during a bombing mission in Germany.

In the spring of 1944, U.S. Army Air Force Tech. Sgt. Sanford G.
Roy, of Chattanooga, Tennessee, was assigned to the 732nd Bombardment Squadron in the European Theater. 

A news release from the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency 
said Roy and several other airmen were aboard the B-24H
Liberator "Little Joe" on a bombing mission to Brunswick,
Germany on April 8.

The plane was shot down by German forces and other airmen
flying near the aircraft did not report seeing any crew members
exiting "Little Joe" before it crashed. His name was engraved
on the Walls of the Missing at the Netherlands American
Cemetery.

George Harrison (25 February 1943 – 29 November 2001) was
an English musician, singer and songwriter who achieved
international fame as the lead guitarist of the Beatles.

In November 2001, Harrison began radiotherapy at Staten
Island University Hospital in New York City for non–small
cell lung cancer that had spread to his brain. He died in
Beverly Hills, California with his second wife Olivia and
their son Dhani by his side. He was 58 years old.          

On Nov. 22, 1963, President John F. Kennedy and first lady
Jacqueline Kennedy flew from Fort Worth, where they had
appeared at a chamber breakfast, to Dallas Love Field, where
they got into a motorcade for a parade through downtown.

John Fitzgerald Kennedy, the 35th president of the United States,
was assassinated in 1963 while traveling through Dallas, Texas,
in an open-top convertible.

First lady Jacqueline Kennedy rarely accompanied her husband
on political outings, but she was beside him, along with Texas
Governor John Connally and his wife, for a 10-mile motorcade
through the streets of downtown Dallas on November 22.

As their vehicle passed the Texas School Book Depository
Building at 12:30 p.m., Lee Harvey Oswald allegedly fired three
shots from the sixth floor, fatally wounding President Kennedy
and seriously injuring Governor Connally.

President John F. Kennedy’s limousine parked at the

following the assassination.

between commercial breaks during the broadcast of
soap opera As the World Turns.

Robert Kennedy, brother of John F. Kennedy, served as the 64th
United States attorney general from January 1961 to September
1964, and as a U.S. senator from New York from January 1965
until his assassination, when he was running for the Democratic 
presidential nomination.

On November 18, 1978, Peoples Temple founder Jim Jones led
hundreds of his followers in a mass murder-suicide at their
agricultural commune in a remote part of the South American
nation of Guyana.

Many of Jones’ followers willingly ingested a poison-laced punch
while others were forced to do so at gunpoint. The final death toll
at Jonestown that day was 909; a third of those who perished were children.

Jim Jones (below) was a charismatic churchman who established
