Carrot Top (Scott Thompson) was born in Rockledge, Florida.
The red-haired prop comedian whose odd inventions are the center of his
stand up acts, began his comedic career after performing at an open mic
night at his college, Florida Atlantic University.
The first cookie sales by an individual Scout unit was by the Mistletoe Troop
in Oklahoma, in December 1917 at their local high school. In 1922, the Girl
Scout magazine The American Girl suggested cookie sales as a fund-raiser,
providing a simple cookie recipe from a regional director for the Girl Scouts
of Chicago.
Six types of cookies were being sold nationwide by 1956 and today, up to 28
varieties of Girl Scout cookies are offered. As of 2007, sales were estimated
at about 200 million boxes per year.

The film “Pinocchio” was released to theaters by RKO Radio
Pictures and was the second animated feature film produced
by Disney. The film won the Academy Awards for Best Original
Song and Best Original Score, the first Disney film to win either.
The 1st Academy Awards ceremony, presented by the Academy of
Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS), honored the best films
of 1927 and 1928 and took place on May 16, 1929, at a private dinner
held at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel in Los Angeles, California.
AMPAS president Douglas Fairbanks hosted the show. Tickets cost
five dollars, 270 people attended the event and the presentation
ceremony lasted fifteen minutes.
The awards were created by Louis B. Mayer, founder of Louis B.
Mayer Pictures Corporation (at present merged into Metro-
Goldwyn-Mayer).
