Philo Taylor Farnsworth (August 19, 1906 – March 11, 1971)

A  21 year-old Utah inventor Philo T. Farnsworth succeeded in transmitting the
image of a line to a small screen through purely electronic means with a device
called an “image dissector” or simply, a video camera tube. Now we know it
better as… television. He was also the first person to demonstrate such a
system to the public.

Farnsworth developed a television system complete with receiver and camera,
which he produced commercially in the firm of the Farnsworth Television and
Radio Corporation, from 1938 to 1951. He held 165 patents, mostly in radio
and television.

Samuel "Sam" Cooke (January 22, 1931 – December 11, 1964)

The song ”You Send Me” was Sam Cooke’s debut single, becoming a
number one hit on both Billboard‘s Rhythm & Blues Records chart and
the Billboard Hot 100.

It was named as one of the 500 most important rock and roll recordings
by the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. In 2005, the song was voted #115 by
representatives of the music industry and the press in Rolling Stone
magazine’s The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time.

Eric Clapton recorded the guitar solo for the Beatles’ "While My Guitar Gently Weeps”, 
becoming the first non-Beatle to appear on one of their recordings. George Harrison 
later said that Clapton’s presence had another effect on the band: "It made them all
try a bit harder; they were all on their best behavior."

"While My Guitar Gently Weeps" was ranked no. 136 on Rolling Stone‘s list of "The
500 Greatest Songs of All Time", no. 7 on their list of the 100 Greatest Guitar Songs
of All Time, and no. 10 on their list of The Beatles 100 Greatest Songs.

International sex symbol Raquel Welch appeared in One Million Years B.C.
(1966). Her other films include 2001’s Legally Blonde and 1967’s The Oldest
Profession. Before fame Welch performed ballet for ten years. In 1964, she
debuted in A House is Not a Home.
