ACTRESS IN CLASSIC FILM DIES AT 92


Marie Madeleine Berthe LeBeau (June 10, 1923 – May 1, 2016)

(Variety) –French film actress Madeleine LeBeau, who played Humphrey
Bogart
’s jilted mistress Yvonne, in “Casablanca” (1942) died May 1 in
Spain after breaking her thigh bone. She was the last surviving credited
cast member of the classic film. Her death was confirmed by her stepson
Carlo Alberto Pinelli. LeBeau was among several cast members who were 
actually refugees from the German occupation.

Alfredo James "Al" Pacino was born in Manhattan, New York.

Pacino had his breakthrough as Michael Corleone in the Godfather trilogy
(1972-1974-1990). He won an Academy Award for Best Actor for his role
as Frank Slade in the 1992 film Scent of a Woman. He is also known for
his starring roles in Dog Day Afternoon (1975), Scarface (1983), and
Serpico (1972). He developed a love for acting at an early age when
he participated in the majority of his school’s productions.

TV SERIES DEBUTED ON THIS DAY IN 1967

The television series Ironside is a crime drama that ran on NBC from 1967 to
1975. It starred Raymond Burr as Robert T. Ironside, a consultant for the San
Francisco Police. The character debuted on March 28, 1967, in a TV movie
called "A Man Called Ironside". The series earned Burr six Emmy and two
Golden Globe nominations.

In 1996, Burr was listed as one of the 50 Greatest TV Stars of All Time by TV
Guide
. A 2014 study found that Burr was rated as the favorite actor by Netflix
customers.

ACTOR KEN HOWARD IS DEAD AT 71


Kenneth Joseph "Ken" Howard, Jr. (March 28, 1944 – March 23, 2016)


(CNN) –
Ken Howard, who starred in the 1970s series "The White Shadow," had
notable guest roles in such programs as "30 Rock" and was the head of the SAG-
AFTRA actors’ union, died Wednesday. The cause of death was not announced.

ACTRESS BORN ON THIS DAY IN 1908


Joan Crawford
 (born Lucille Fay LeSueur in San Antonio, Texas)
(March 23, 1904 – May 10, 1977)

Joan Crawford won an Academy Award for her role in Mildred Pierce
(1945). She starred in many rags-to-riches movies as a flapper during
the Great Depression. She was originally discovered while dancing in
Detroit. In addition to being a flapper in the late ’20s, she was on the
board of directors for Pepsi-Cola.
