Bruce Frederick Joseph Springsteen is 67 years old today.

According to reports, Springsteen felt deep alienation while attending
high school and did not appear at his graduation. He failed his physical
examinations after being drafted to fight in Vietnam and never served.

Bruce Springsteen performed with the power trio Earth in the late 1960s
and, in 1971, he performed with Steve Van Zandt and Steel Mill.

BORN ON THIS DAY IN 1774


Meriwether Lewis (August 18, 1774 – October 11, 1809)

Lewis explored and mapped the American Northwest with his
partner William Clark. He was appointed to be President
Thomas Jefferson‘s aide in 1801 and provided him with
information regarding army politics. In addition to helping
to map the U.S., he served as governor of Louisiana.

BORN ON THIS DAY IN 1770


William Clark (August 1, 1770 – September 1, 1838)
Born in Ladysmith, Colony of Virginia.

William Clark explored the American Northwest with Meriwether
Lewis
and served as the governor of the Missouri Territory from
1822 to 1838. From 1822 until his death in 1838, he served as
Superintendent of Indian Affairs. He was home-schooled and
grew very self conscious about his poor spelling ability.

George Walton Lucas, Jr. is 72 today.

Lucas began his collegiate career studying anthropology at Modesto
Junior College, then transferred to the University of Southern California
School of Cinematic Arts. He attempted to join the U.S. Air Force after
graduation but they wouldn’t accept him because of a number of
speeding tickets on his record, so instead he re-enrolled at USC as
a graduate student in film production.
