SHORT HISTORY OF AN ICONIC CONFECTION

Tootsie Roll is a chocolate-flavored taffy-like candy that has been manufactured in the United States since 1907. The candy has
qualities similar to both
caramels and taffy without being exactly
either confection. The
manufacturer, Tootsie Roll Industries, is
based in
Chicago, Illinois. It was the first penny candy to be

FAMOUS TV CRIME SERIES BEGAN ON RADIO

Perry Mason was a 15-minute radio crime serial based on the novels
of
Erle Stanley Gardner. Broadcast weekdays on CBS Radio from
1943 to 1955, the series was adapted into The Edge of Night which
ran on television for an additional 30 years. 


The actors portraying Mason switched frequently over the first three years of the show’s run, starting with Bartlett Robinson, followed by Santos Ortega and Donald Briggs. John Larkin (above) took over the starring role March 31, 1947, and portrayed Mason until the end of
the series in December of 1955.

(FoxNews) – A one of a kind 1967
Chevrolet Corvette L88 is
scheduled to cross the block at the
Mecum Auctions event
in Glendale, Ariz., on March 20.

The coupe is one of 20 1967 Corvettes specified with the
L88 option package, which essentially turned them into 
competition cars.

YARD SALE ITEM RESOLD BIG AT AUCTION

The small, porcelain bowl bought for $35 at a Connecticut yard sale that turned out to be a rare, 15th century Chinese artifact. The bowl was auctioned off for nearly $722,000 at Sotheby's Auction of Important Chinese Art, in New York, on March 17. (AP/Sotheby's)

(AP) – An exceptionally rare 15th century porcelain bowl made in
China that somehow turned up at a Connecticut yard sale and
sold for just $35 was auctioned off Wednesday for nearly
$722,000.

The small, white bowl adorned with cobalt blue paintings of
flowers and other designs — one of only seven such bowls
known to exist in the  world — was among a variety of Chinese
works of art sold by Sotheby’s as part of its Asia Week events.

The names of the seller and buyer were not disclosed.
