Cinco de Mayo is Spanish for "Fifth of May"… a yearly celebration
held on May 5, which commemorates the anniversary of Mexico’s
victory over the Second French Empire at the Battle of Puebla in
1862, led by General Ignacio Zaragoza (below).

On March 17, 461 A.D., Saint Patrick, Christian missionary,
bishop and apostle of Ireland, died at Saul, Downpatrick,
Ireland. Today he is honored with the annual holiday of St.
Patrick’s Day.
Most government offices and public schools will be closed
and it is a postal holiday, so there will be no mail deliveries
on President’s Day.
