Jamie Lee Curtis was born in Santa Monica, California, to actor Tony Curtis and actress Janet Leigh.
Her film debut was in the 1978 John Carpenter horror film Halloween. It was considered the highest grossing independent film of its time and earned Curtis the title, "scream queen".
